First of all, Thanks to everyone who responded to my initial question on
Monday. After spending another couple of days on the problem I managed to
perform a "soft reset" on myself and started the install process from the
beginning. The entire problem was that I was reading the directions - but
only part of them. Was using a T1 crossover cable when a straight through
was what was needed. Turns out that the incorrect cable will turn on the
lights on the telco switch so that it looks like you should have a
connection. As soon as I installed the correct cable all was right with my
phoney world.
